The Incubator challenges modern economic assumptions according to which the purpose of a company is to enrich its shareholders. Incubator projects see the provision of monetary value as a means to promoting a higher goal. The Incubator is a breakthrough in the creation of a synthesis between social and economic models (“one can help the world and also make money from it”) in order to transform a social enterprise into a self sustaining entities that does not depend on philanthropy. We believe that the success of Incubator projects will lead to a significant change in the perception of third-sector activity. Over the last three years, a number of social incubators were established in Israel’s largest cities, providing social entrepreneurs with a home and professional assistance.
